5,267 economically disadvantaged students were taught in Titus County schools in 2022-23 school year

Titus County schools enrolled 5,267 students who identified as economically disadvantaged in the state during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 7,115 students enrolled in Titus County schools, 74% were considered economically disadvantaged. This is a 3.2% increase over the previous school year.

Titus County enrolled the 71st highest number of students identified as economically disadvantaged among Texas counties.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they're offering better education for more Texas students.
